Water

Water, aka "lah-tahr", has become a real hit around here. It can be in a pool, in a lake, in the tub, in a cup or a bowl or a bucket, from a sprinkler, and the recent favorite: a muddy sandy puddle.

Perfect little droplets on perfect little faces.

In this house, we don't run through the sprinkler, we drive our cars through the sprinkler.

A momma-made mud puddle beckons two little boys like not much else can. And when you have padded drawers you have the added benefit of plopping down without a wet behind.... why not go for it?!

All three "children" thoroughly enjoy these puddles.

If "Onnie" can drink out of the puddle, so can Tanner.

Gratitude:

Living simply and being intentional about it.

Warm sun. Cool Breeze.

An impromptu visit by my mom's sister who lives only three hours away. Seeing her twice in the last seven months after not seeing her for six years.

Tanner's  "La Lu", in response to Ben's "I love you"

Finding a way for Ben and I to enjoy each other's company at home: Cooking. Fun for both of us, can be done all year long, inside and out, and something we can pass along to the boys.

Flourless Almond Cake.

Our gas grill. Thirty chicken drumsticks and other fixin's shared with friends in our yard.

Salsas. All different kinds of homemade yumminess. Tomatoe. Strawberry. Pineapple. Broccomole.

Kody mimicking the sound of the blender as Ben whirls together the perfect combination of fire roasted tomatoes and pablano peppers, garlic, onion, lime juice, and cilantro.

Our new home - no pictures on walls, still boxes to unpack- feels like home anyway.

Starting to feel settled again after six months of uncertainties in lots of areas.

The night sky from our back yard. Dark and unobstructed. Stars galore.

A new umbrella for our picnic table. Some much needed shade in our sunny yard.

Friends. Only a few of them, but such treasured gems.

Following through with discipline and watching the behavior slowly change.

How the boys know words to their books and yell them out before I even read them.

Tanner trying to make the noise of daddy's drill. Both boys trying to whistle like the tea kettle.

When Kody grabs my arm and pulls it toward him saying "Hug", while I'm trying to change his diaper.

  1. Totally cracking up at the puddle and the joy you embrace these boys with. It's contagious!

And cooking, that is genius. Craig and I love to garden together, but it's only part of the year. We definitely need to explore the cooking world.

  4. Boy Rachelle, you have been busy taking pictures and making puddles! Love all the pictures. How nice to have all that yard to play in. The boys look like they are having a blast in the summer sun. The comic strip is great and I love the water droplets on their cute little faces. Next time add one or 2 of you and Ben with the kids. We like to see you guys too! Thanks for taking the time and sharing these with the family. We all know you are busy so it's appreciated by all of us.
