Bold

At just over five months old, little glimpses of personality are shining through like the sun on a cloud-free day. A real first born (it doesn't matter that it's only by one minute)... take charge attitude and all.              

                                      

It's hard to believe that behind this smile is a bold little boy who's already pushing the boundaries. He really only looks innocent! 

The changing table is no longer a safe place to set Kody down and the toy he'd like to have is, of course, always the one in his brother's hand.

Our little Kody has mastered his ability to roll. He doesn't do it in a smooth 360° motion, but he moves quickly nonetheless. And anything in his path better watch out. Or at least that's what he hopes. He rolls along on the floor banging his head on chair legs and the underside of his crib. He keeps trying till momma picks him up and moves him.

He rolls in the pack n' play, but that darn brother of his is always in the way. When brother doesn't move and all else fails, why not just roll onto him?

Rolling onto his belly before going to sleep is a new favorite, but getting stuck in the corner is a real problem. And the most recent place to roll...the bouncer! Who'd ever thought that you can go from a semi-upright position on your back to a semi-upright position on your front without ever touching the floor?  And of course these motions always end in ear piercing screams, which have become a part of most daily routines. The boy wants what he wants and he wants it right now.  

I remember laying in the hospital bed with both boys shortly after they were born, and even then, I could see that Kody had the potential to be a wild boy - I think my hunch could be true. Maybe it's payback for all the tantrums my mom tells me I threw as a little girl?!
