Doubly Blessed

So I totally stink at updating our blog lately, but in my defense, I feel like I have a good excuse this time...I've been sick. For two months, you may be wondering? Why yes, as a matter of fact, for about two months! It's not because I've had a cold or the flu or some other ailment, it's because (in case you haven't heard our excited news yet), I am pregnant! Ben & I are expecting TWINS!

Ok, well it hasn't been quite that much of a party around here, between puking and sleeping, but still... it's pretty darn exciting! At 12 weeks along, we have two babies with excellent heart beats and development that is right where it should be - we couldn't be more thrilled.

We know our world is going to change as we know it, and that the first few weeks and maybe even the first year could feel hellish, but I just can't help but day dream about our family of 5 (can't forget about our first baby - Onyx!) and the fun times ahead....going on picnics, playing at the park, planting small veggies for small hands like baby carrots and cherry tomatoes in our own backyard, picking fresh fruit at the Greenbluff orchards. And something that I think both of us are really looking forward to is holidays - no more holidays by ourselves! Even if we can't be with our parents and siblings, we will have our own children! Oh the traditions that can be started! Who knew that last holiday season would be our last one by ourselves?!

Psalm 127:3 says, "Children are a gift from the Lord; babies are a reward". I have randomly come across that verse numerous times in the last few years, but never has it had as much meaning as it does right now. And to be given two at once.... doubly blessed, alright!
